Man wanted for questioning over Linden slaying

The police have issued a bulletin for 26year-old Samorea Mitchell, of Wisroc, Linden, who is wanted for questioning in relation to the murder of Delroy McKenzie, and the attempted murder of Calvin Daly.

His last known address was given as Lot 716 Phase 1 “B” Wisroc, Linden.

McKenzie was shot dead on the night of July 17th, and his friend, Daly, was wounded after the duo walked into what appears to have been an ambush at Linden, where they were fired upon by the occupants of a car. The shooting took place around 9 pm, shortly after McKenzie, of Lot 57 Caneview Avenue, Roxanne Burnham Gardens arrived in Linden to meet with a woman.

About 9.50pm they then walked out of the street where a car had turned around and as McKenzie approached to open the back door, a male opened the door and began shooting at him. Another male who was in the front passenger seat came out of the car and opened fire also.

Daly, the police had said, ran for cover, leaving McKenzie behind. Daly said that the car had three occupants at the time. The men jumped back into the car and continued to drive in the southern direction towards Silver City Street.

Daly, who suffered two gunshot wounds on the left and right lower arms with abrasions to both arms, was escorted to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was admitted as a patient. McKenzie’s body was escorted to the Linden Hospital

Complex where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Daly, when questioned about the woman who contacted McKenzie over the phone, said that he didn’t know anything about her.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of Mitchell is asked to contact the police on telephone numbers 6206836, 226-6978, 225-8196, 268-2328, 268- 2298/2222, 226-7065, 226-4701, 661-5870, 911 or the nearest police station.
