Guyanese cricketers, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Christopher Barnwell and Trevon Griffith enjoyed success with the bat on day two of the Atlanta Open T20 2021 while Bhaskar Yadram stood out with the ball.

Hemraj continued his purple patch, following up his unbeaten century on Thursday with a matchwinning half century for Samp Army who defeated Men in Blue by seven wickets.

Men in Blue won the toss and batted but could only manage 110 all out in 16 overs. Army then responded with 116 for three in 7.3 overs.

Tilak Patel gave the Men in Blue a solid start with a 26-ball 40, laced with five fours and one six.

His efforts ensured his side a 49-run opening stand with Mokshand Gaonkar, who made 26 before being bowled by Raymon Reifer (2-10).

Manoj Acharya (3-18) and United States captain, Saurabh Netravalkar (2-11) then made light work of the rest of the batting order.

Hemraj then stole the show with seven sixes and three fours on his way to 58 from just 17 balls. The left-hander thrashed Ritesh Patel for a four followed by four consecutive sixes in a 29-run third over.

The 28-year-old added 84 for the second wicket with Justin Greaves who struck his five boundaries consecutively off of Gaonkar on his way to 25 from 16 balls.

second half century in as many matches and Yadram’s four-wicket haul ensured Param Veers a seven-wicket win over Southeast United.

Param Veers won the toss and inserted United who were bundled out for 116 in 20 overs before Param Veers raced to 117

Yadram rocked the middle order with figures of 426 including the wickets of Jonathan Carter who top scored with 28, Ankit Hirani (24) and Jonathan Foo (10).

Barnwell saw Param Veers over the line with 61 not out from 29 balls, hitting

seven fours and three sixes. The former Royal Challengers of Bangalore all-rounder shared an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 82 with Hammad Azam (26 not out).

all-round performance to lead Edison Cricket Club to a six-wicket win over Vibes Destroyers.

Destroyers posted 175 for seven from their allotted overs while Edison reached 176 for four with 10 balls to spare.

When Destroyers batted, Mark Parchment top scored with 53 from 30 balls before being dismissed by Griffith (230) who got support from Krishmar Santokie with 2-27.

Griffith duly returned to six boundaries, including three sixes during his 41-ball 55. He added 56 for the first wicket with Kennar Lewis who made 46 and 107 for the second wicket with Raunaq Sharma who struck seven fours and a six in 52 from 35 balls.

Another Guyanese, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, played an anchoring role to see LA Titans beat United Cricket Club by eight wickets.

Unity managed 167 for five from their quota while Titans raced to 169 for two in 14.2 overs.

Andries Gous hammered eight sixes and six fours during his 38-ball 87 while adding an opening stand of 124 with Chanderpaul, who made 36 from 26 balls, decorated by a pair of fours and a pair of sixes before being dismissed by his Guyana Jaguars teammate, Keon Joseph (1-30).

In another match, Mark Dyal scored the lone century of the day, a 58 ball 122 not out, highlighted by eight sixes and 13 fours. Dyal ensured Lightning reached 215 for three. Shamar Springer (4-41) and Jeremy Gordon (2-25) restricted Kings XI to 168 all out, 47 runs short of their target.
