Former worker accused of stealing millions from Queensway Security Service

Darrell La Fargue

A former Queensway Security Service employee, accused of stealing millions from the company, was yesterday faced with the first set of charges stemming from a police investigation.

Darrell La Fargue of North Sophia, Greater Georgetown, was arraigned at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts, where Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus read 15 charges to him.

He was charged with multiple counts of larceny by a clerk or servant. It is alleged that between August 4, 2021 and September 7, 2021, he stole a total of $545,150 from the company.

Policed Prosecutor Annalisa Brummell objected to bail being granted. She told the court that La Fargue is accused of stealing a hefty sum of money. She indicated that a total of 56 charges are expected to be brought against him. She also noted that over $3 million is alleged to have been stolen by the man. The prosecutor added that when the allegations were put to him, he had admitted to committing them.

The man, however, denied the 15 charges and he was released on $30,000 bail for each charge. This was following two reductions on the bail amount initially set due to his family being unable to acquire the sum. His fiancée, who attended court, indicated through an attorney that the family pooled together resources and had only $500,000. He was told to report to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Eve Leary, every Friday between the hours of 9 and 10. The matter was postponed until November 1.
