Exxon looking for contractors to build Port Mourant technical training college

ExxonMobil Guyana is seeking suppliers that can construct the planned Guyana Technical Training College in Port Mourant, Region Six (East BerbiceCorentyne).

Back in December last year, President Irfaan Ali had said that the Guyana Sugar Corporation’s (GuySuCo) Port Mourant Training Centre would be transformed into the country’s National Oil and Gas Institute. He was visiting the Berbice Deep Water Port, which is being constructed by Canadian company CGX Energy through its subsidiary Grand Canal Industrial Estates Inc (GCIE).

In a request notice published yesterday, ExxonMobil Guyana said that it plans to put in place a construction services agreement for the construction of a Technical Training Center within the Port Mourant area. As a result, it said it is seeking to identify suppliers who can build the facility in Port Mourant.

Exxon said that the Request for Information (RFI) seeks detailed commercial and technical information from suppliers for meeting its bid selection requirements for the procurement and construction of the Training College, which will be located adjacent to the GuySuCo Training Centre.

The scope of the RFI is to gauge the level of service that can be supplied. Contractors would be responsible for clearing and filling the site. Exxon is also seeing the procurement and installation of pipes and conduits to support potable water, wastewater, storm water, power, data, and compressed air distribution system.

Multiple buildings would also have to be constructed on the site, according to Exxon. It said that the buildings range from dormitories, dining halls, classroom and administration, laboratories, guardhouse and operation and storage.

The buildings are expected to be fully functional and include but not limited to: reinforced concrete foundation and superstructure – slab, columns, beams; concrete masonry partition walls, waterproofing thermal and acoustical insulation, roofing, mechanical, electrical, grounding, plumbing systems; CCTV and security system, fire alarm system and IT infrastructure; doors, windows, steel handrails and guardrails; all architectural interior and exterior finishes including floors, wall and ceilings; all furniture fixtures and equipment including kitchen equipment and appliances; code required and client requested building exterior and interior signage

Contractors are required to have the experience and resources to safely execute the project. They are also required to adhere to Exxon’s local content requirement.

The deadline for submission is July 22.
