Britton continues to stamp his authority in the Region

Fresh off representing Guyana at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England, the ace paddler took his talents to Trinidad and served and slammed his way to the Silver Bowl title.

On Sunday at the Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua, Britton representing Queen’s Park, defeated Barbadian Tyrese Knight in the men’s singles final 11-8, 11-9, 8-11, 11-6.

In the women’s singles, experienced Trinidad national player, Aleena Edwards won the title with an 11-9, 5-11, 11-8, 211, 12-10 win over her niece, Imani Edwards-Taylor.

In the tournament which was sponsored by the Insurance Company of the West Indies, Guyana’s Jonathan Van Lange came third.

Nigel Bryan, Krystian Sahadeo, and Niran Bissu made it to the round of 16. While Guyana’s Colin Wong exited in the group stage.

Thuraia Thomas competing in the women’s championships, made it to the quarterfinals of the singles where she lost to finalist, Edwards-Taylor.

Guyanese players are also participating in the ICWI league. Some players under the Titans banner are also participating in a training camp being hosted by the Caranage TT Club conducted by Edwin Humphreys with ITTF Level Two coach, Dwain Dick, as the expert on duty. (Emmerson Campbell)
