Fire service gets $273m in equipment

The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) yesterday received $273m worth of equipment including a 150-ft hydraulic platform.

A release from the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday said that the Government of Guyana handed over one Hydraulic Platform, one Ambulance and one Bus to the Guyana Fire Service.

Commissioner, Jane Miller, the Permanent Secretary, Mae Toussaint Jr. Thomas, Representatives from Angloco Limited, Chief Fire Officer, Gregory Wickham, members of the GFS and other officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The assets combined are valued at $273m and will be used to lend support and improve the firefighting capabilities of the Guyana Fire Service.

The Hydraulic platform can reach a height of 150 feet making it ideal for high-rise buildings. This asset was purchased from UK firm Angloco Ltd. At a cost of $255,600.00. The ambulance was purchased from RRT Enterprise at a cost of $9,827,500, while the Bus was purchased from Car Clean Enterprise at a cost of $8,000,000.
