Exxon supports hinterland teams for KFC Goodwill Championship

With the fourth edition of the KFC Goodwill Schools U-18 Football Tournament set to kick off next Tuesday (December 12), ExxonMobil has stepped up to the plate and will be sponsoring the hinterland schools that will be taking part in the competition.

Yesterday at the National Library on Church Street, ExxonMobil’s Community Relations Advisor, Ryan Hoppie, handed over a check to the tune of GYD $3 million to the Petra Organisation to assist with the logistics associated with the travel and upkeep of DC Caesar Fox (Waramadong), St. Ignatius Secondary (Region 9), and Bartica Secondary School (Region 7) throughout the duration of the tournament.

At the presentation, Hoppie pointed out that ExxonMobil has been supporting Petra for over four years with sponsorship, adding, “For us, sponsoring youth in sport is a great opportunity for us to fulfil our commitment to youth and community empowerment. We recognise that investing in sport not only enhances the country’s athletic landscape but also contributes to its overall prosperity.”

Speaking of the company’s continued sponsorship in sports, Hoppie explained, “Supporting our local and hinterland teams and providing them with the opportunity to meet and play against international teams will serve to propel them to the next level.” He concluded by wishing the participating teams good luck.

Meanwhile, the co-director of Petra revealed that the organisation had reached out to ExxonMobil and pointed out that they were “happy to announce that they were on board to assist in delivering the tournament. The magnitude and what it will do for football for the country are important, and we at Petra thank Exxon Mobil for delivering on their corporate social responsibility.”
